Abstract

The present technology relates to a data processing device and a data processing method, which are capable of securing excellent communication quality in data transmission using an LDPC code. In group-wise interleave, an LDPC code in which a code length N is 16200 bits and an encoding rate r is 6/15, 8/15, or 10/15 is interleaved in units of bit groups of 360 bits. In group-wise deinterleave, a sequence of the LDPC code that has undergone the group-wise interleave is restored to an original sequence. For example, the present technology can be applied to a technique of performing data transmission using an LDPC code.

Abstract

Display with an appropriate luminance dynamic range is realizable on a receiving side. A gamma curve is applied to input video data having a level range from 0% to 100%*N (N: a number larger than 1) to obtain transmission video data. This transmission video data is transmitted together with auxiliary information used for converting a high-luminance level on the receiving side. A high-level side level range of the transmission video data is converted on the receiving side such that a maximum level becomes a predetermined level based on the auxiliary information received together with the transmission video data.

Abstract

The present technology relates to a receiver for efficiently acquiring a component configuring a service, a reception method, a transmitter, and a transmission method. The receiver acquires first signaling data distributed on a broadcast wave of digital broadcasting in an IP transmission system, acquires broadcast signaling data as second signaling data, acquires communication signaling data as the second signaling data when flag information included in the broadcast signaling data indicates that the communication signaling data is provided from a server over the Internet together with the broadcast signaling data, and connects to a stream of a broadcast component or a stream of a communication component thereby to control reproduction of the component on the basis of at least one of the broadcast signaling data and the communication signaling data. The present technology is applicable to TV receivers, for example.

Abstract

An association with a system timing at the time of transmission is secured without changing a display timing in text information of a subtitle, and a reception side displays the subtitle at an appropriate timing. A packet in which a document of the text information of the subtitle having display timing information is included in a payload is generated and transmitted in synchronization with a sample period. A header of the packet includes a time stamp on a first time axis indicating a start time of the corresponding sample period. The payload of the packet further includes reference time information of a second time axis regarding the display timing associated with the start time of the corresponding sample period.

Abstract

A transmission apparatus configured to mix, at a mixing rate, pixels of first video data with pixels of peripheral frames of the first video data and obtain second video data at a first frame rate. The mixing rate for each pixel of a frame of the first video data is based on a luminance value of the pixel. The second video data includes frames having a second frame rate lower than the first frame rate. The apparatus encodes the frames having the second frame rate to obtain a basic stream and encodes remaining frames of the second video data to obtain an extended stream, inserts information about the mixing rate into the basic stream and the extended stream in association with each frame, and transmits the basic stream and the extended stream into which the information about the mixing rate has been inserted.

Abstract

In group-wise interleaving, interleaving of an LDPC code having a code length N of 64800 bits and an encoding rate r of 5/15 is performed in a unit of a bit group of 360 bits. In group-wise deinterleaving, an arrangement of the LDPC code that has undergone group-wise interleaving is returned to an original arrangement. The technology can be applied to a case of transmitting data using the LDPC code. The data processing device and data processing method can ensure excellent communication quality in data transmission using an LDPC code.

Abstract

It is intended to make it possible to make a favorable display of, for example, images of low frame-rate content, with a high-luminance and high-contrast television set. On the basis of an image stream having a first frame rate, for each frame, an object having luminance exceeding a luminance threshold value and/or a motion amount exceeding a motion-amount threshold value is detected as a target object. An image stream having a second frame rate larger than the first frame rate is acquired by inserting, between every pair of two consecutive frames in the image stream having the first frame rate, a predetermined number of frames of interpolated images obtained by performing motion compensation for causing the target object to sequentially move.

Abstract

A transmitter for transmitting payload data and emergency information using data symbols in a single-carrier or multi-carrier broadcast system comprises a modulator configured to modulate one or more transmission symbols with signaling data for use in detecting and recovering the payload data at a receiver and to modulate one or more transmission symbols with the payload data. An emergency information receiver receives emergency information carrying information of an actual emergency. An emergency information embedder embeds emergency information into one or more transmission symbols, wherein the emergency information is embedded within a predetermined time period after its reception by using a resource used for carrying signaling data and/or payload data if no emergency information shall be transmitted. A transmission unit transmits the transmission symbols.

Abstract

A method, non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, and reception apparatus for extracting metadata, and an information providing apparatus for providing the metadata. The method for extracting metadata includes processing, by circuitry of the reception apparatus, content that includes the metadata embedded therein. The metadata is embedded as a watermark in a first portion of a video frame of the content. The circuitry determines symbol values of the watermark from the video frame based on luminance values in pixels of the first portion of the video frame of the content to extract the metadata. At least one of the luminance values is less than 16.

Abstract

The present technique relates to a data processing apparatus and a data processing method each of which enables a burden imposed on processing on a reception side to be reduced. A data processing apparatus produces signaling containing a Null cell number exhibiting the number of Null cells of cells of a sub-frame included in a physical layer frame, and processes the signaling so as for the signaling to be contained in a preamble of the physical layer frame, thereby enabling a burden imposed on processing on a reception side to be reduced.
