Abstract

To reduce the mass of a sabot (20, 30) having a push function and a pull function, it is proposed that the sabot (20, 30) comprise mutually separate sabot parts (5, 6, 14', 15'), wherein at least one sabot part (5, 14') is configured in such a way that it performs the pull function, and wherein at least one sabot part (6, 15') is configured in such a way that it performs the push function. For this purpose, the sabot parts (5, 6, 14', 15') are nested. This can be implemented in the form of cylindrical nesting or in the form of tangential nesting. In the case of the cylindrical nesting, the outer sabot part (6) encloses the inner part (5) along an interface (24). In the case of the tangential nesting, the sabot parts (14', 15') are divided into sabot subsegments (14, 15). The latter are nested in alternating fashion in the tangential direction, with the result that a pull-sabot subsegment (14) and a push-sabot subsegment (15) are always nested in alternating fashion in the circumferential direction. To provide sufficient sealing, the sabot subsegments (14, 15) overlap one another.

Abstract

The invention relates to a weapon system comprising a breechblock, formed at least by a breechblock carrier (5) and a breechblock head (3), wherein the breechblock carrier (5) is designed to support the breechblock head (3). In order to achieve a reduction or even an elimination of the forces acting on the breechblock drive during the unlocking of the breechblock and the removal of a cartridge casing, the breechblock head (4) is freely moveably relative to the breechblock carrier (3). In order to separate the breechblock and a breechblock drive of the weapon system during the recoil of the recoiling masses of the weapon system, a device (20) is designed in such a way that a mechanical separation can be produced between the breechblock and the breechblock drive with the recoil of the recoiling masses of the weapon system. With the forward motion of the recoiling masses, the mechanical connection between the breechblock drive and the breechblock is re-formed using the device (20). For the separating or connecting of the breechblock from/to a breechblock slider (6), which functionally cooperates with the breechblock carrier (5), the device (20) has at least one connection rod (23). The connection rod (23) is securely attached to the breechblock slider (6) by a rear end when viewed in the direction of fire. The front end can be connected to the breechblock carrier (5) and separated from same.

Abstract

The invention relates to a weapon system (3) having a breechblock (2), wherein the breechblock (2) can be mechanically connected to a drive (1) of the weapon system (3). The weapon system (3) comprises means (13, 14) which are designed in such a way that a mechanical separation occurs between the breechblock (2) and the breechblock drive (1) with the recoil of the recoiling masses of the weapon system (3). With the forward motion of the recoiling masses, the mechanical connection between the breechblock drive (1) and the breechblock (2) is re-formed. In order to achieve a reduction or even an elimination of the forces acting on the breechblock drive when unlocking the breechblock (2) and removing a cartridge casing, it is provided that the actual unlocking of the breechblock (2) and the removal of the cartridge casing is carried out during the forward motion of the recoiling masses after the recoil. When the breechblock (2) is locked, the breechblock head (7) and the breechblock carrier (6) are locked against one another, but are freely moveable on guides towards the breechblock drive (1) for the expected weapon recoil. A breechblock (2) is also proposed, wherein the breechblock (2) is formed at least by a breechblock carrier (6) and a breechblock head (7). The breechblock carrier (6) supports the breechblock head (7). The breechblock head (7) has a locking groove (7.1). A means (16) for locking the breechblock head (7) to the breechblock carrier (6) is engaged in the locking groove (7.1).

Abstract

The invention relates to a detachable guide system (4) for a projectile (1), more particularly for a full-calibre projective. According to the invention, an interface (21) is provided to separate the projectile head (2) from the guide system part (4) to prevent a rearwardly directed effect from being reduced by the guide system or guide system part (4). The interface (21) comprises a transition or transfer part (8). The projectile head (2) comprises a case (3) for receiving the payload (19). The case (3) and the transition part (8) form the interface (21). The case (3) and the transition part (8) are conically designed or shaped (10, 11) in their common connection zone (9). Locking grooves (12, 13) and feed grooves (14, 15) are provided within the interface (21). The grooves (12, 13, 14, 15) are introduced on the outer circumference of the transition part (8) and inside the case (3), respectively. The transition part (8) has a thread (16) which can be connected to a thread of the guide system part (4). The two feed grooves (14, 15) form, situated one above the other, a common feed groove (17). The locking grooves (12, 13) are coincident such that they can jointly receive a locking cylinder (18). On penetration of the projectile (1) in a target, the locking cylinder (18) breaks, as a result of which the projectile head (2) separates from the guide system part (4). In the most favourable case, the guide system part (4) and transition part (8) remain caught in the target, while the projectile head (2) can take full effect in all directions in the target.

Abstract

In order to provide an economical method for producing a weapon barrel, in which a considerable plasticisation of the barrel inner wall and thus of the twist profile is avoided when armour-piercing ammunition is shot, in particular in the case of an intense firing sequence, it is proposed not to introduce the twist profile of the weapon barrel into a barrel blank, the material of which has its end strength already as a result of hardening and tempering, but has a lower strength level (approximately 800-1000 MPa). Only once the twist profile has been formed by extrusion or hammering is the steel hardened and tempered to a predefined strength value > 1000 MPa, and is the barrel blank that is provided with the twist profile mechanically processed further.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for the optical target tracking of a target object (5) which can be irradiated with a high-energy laser (2), wherein the target object (5) is in each case illuminated with an illumination laser (6) during successive time periods, then a camera image (18, 19) of the target object (5) is generated with the aid of imaging optics, and finally the laser beam (4) of the high-energy laser (2) is aligned with the target object (5) on the basis of the camera images (18, 19) obtained using imaging optics. In order to make it possible to precisely align the laser beam (4) of the high-energy laser (2) with the target object (5) even if flames and/or smoke triggered by the laser beam develop on the target object (5) or said object is self-luminous, the invention proposes differential image determination. To this end, a first camera image (18) of the target object (5) irradiated with the high-energy laser (2) is captured during a first partial time period when the illumination laser (6) is switched on. Directly after this first camera image, a second camera image is captured during a second partial time period when the illumination laser (6) is switched off. If the second camera image is now electronically subtracted from the first camera image, a differential image is produced comprising a target object (5) freed from the interference. The differential image is then evaluated with respect to the position of the target object (5) and the direction of the laser beam (4) is controlled.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device (1) for the optical target tracking of a target object (5) which can be irradiated with a high-energy laser (2), the target object (5) being illuminated with an illumination laser (6). In order to make it possible to precisely align the laser beam (4) of the high-energy laser (2) with the target object (5) even if flames and/or smoke triggered by the laser beam (4) develop on the target object (5) or said object is self-luminous (interference), the invention proposes differential image determination. To this end, two camera images of the target object (5) are synchronously captured and stored with the same exposure time in different wavelength ranges, in each case using a separate camera (14, 15), the first wavelength range being selected such that the radiation of the illumination laser (6) can be measured. The second wavelength range is slightly offset from the first wavelength range such that the interference caused by the irradiation with the high-energy laser (2) is measured instead of the radiation of the illumination laser (6) itself. If the second camera image is now electronically subtracted from the first camera image, a differential image is produced comprising a target object freed from the interference.

Abstract

The invention relates to a cutting device (20) comprising at least one firing pin retainer (1), at least one locking element (2), a spring (6), a firing pin (7), a percussion cap (9), a charge (13), a cutting element (14), a stop (15) and a shear pin (17), wherein the at least one locking element (2) provides a connection between the firing pin retainer (1) and the firing pin (7). The spring (6) is compressed. After the firing pin retainer (1) has travelled a predetermined path, the locking element (2) is released. The release results in the spring (6) being released, causing the firing pin (7) to be accelerated and at the end to strike the percussion cap (9). As a result of the firing pin (7) striking the percussion cap (9), the pyrotechnic charge therein is ignited. As a result of the pyrotechnic charge in the percussion cap being initiated, the delay element (11), if provided, is lit. This delay element regulates the delay time. Afterwards, an additional charge (13) is ignited. The gas volume thus generated applies pressure to the cutting element (14). Above a certain pressure the shear pin (17) shears off, causing the cutting element (14) to be axially accelerated. The cutting element (14) strikes the stop (15) at high speed as a result of the acceleration, and penetrates into same. A connection to be cut, which is guided through an opening in front of the stop (15), is thereby severed.

Abstract

The invention relates to a projectile comprising a housing. The housing has a cavity for receiving an inner shell, and the inner shell is provided with at least one pyrotechnic explosive charge. The projectile additionally has a powder chamber, which supplies a propellant charge for the projectile, and a delay charge which can ignite the explosive charge. This occurs via a contact which is likewise paired with the projectile. The housing has pin receiving areas and a possible receiving area for a compensating ring and shoulders which point in the longitudinal direction of the projectile. These measures allow the projectile according to the invention to be adapted to different launcher systems and provides a caliber adjustment.

Abstract

The invention proposes the use of a uniform projectile casing (1) which is utilized for projectiles (40-45) with different ranges. A projectile (40, 42, 44) of relatively short range can in this case be optimized with regard to payload, whereas a projectile (41, 43, 45) with the relatively long range is subjected to a range optimization, with a reduction in payload. The payload of a projectile (41, 43, 45) of relatively long range is generally lower in relation to a projectile (40, 42, 44) with relatively short range. The artillery projectiles (40-45) have a projectile casing (1) of equal size for the projectiles of different range. That is to say, to create an artillery projectile (40, 42, 44), for example 155 mm, a uniform payload-optimized 30 km projectile casing (1) is used, from which 40 km projectiles (41, 43, 45) can be generated (produced, assembled) by means of a reduction in payload. The range is selected and defined by means of mutually different projectile bases (11, 21). The artillery projectile is composed of multiple modular parts which are assembled in order to create the artillery projectile.

Abstract

It is proposed to make a threat (2) better visible for a defensive measure (3). In this context, the threat (2) should be imaged more intensely for the defensive measure (3). For the purposes of more effective imaging, provision is made for the threat (2) to emit a stronger IR signature and thus be able to stand out sufficiently against the background for the defensive measure (3). The stronger IR signature is caused by heating a surface (9) of the threat (2), which is realized by a laser weapons system (7). The defensive measure (3) can better detect this heating and has an IR seeker head to this end.

Abstract

The invention relates to a pyrotechnic delayed-action composition and primer charge made of REACh (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals)-compliant components that are safe for humans and the environment. The delayed-action composition comprises at least one oxidant, at least one reducing agent, at least one filler and at least one mineral binder. The performance parameters thereof, in particular the burning time, can be set variably within a wide range. The composition clinkers on its own, thus preventing extinction at the front of the burning material even in dynamic conditions. The primer charge comprises at least one oxidant, at least one reducing agent, at least one filler and at least one mineral binder. It is easy to ignite and, due to its clinker structure, transfers its energy well to the compositions to be ignited. Since the delayed-action composition and the primer charge have the same structure, they can easily be combined and adapted to each other in delayed-action units. However, the composition and the charge can also be used separately. The use of the primer charge is not limited to delayed-action units.

Abstract

The invention relates to a projectile (1, 11, 21), also as a training projectile which, on the one hand, has ballistic equality compared to the inserted ammunition or training ammunition up to a pre-defined battle distance, on the other hand, however, decreases the velocity significantly faster when said distance is exceeded and thus has a significantly restricted total range relative to the inserted ammunition. The projectile (1, 11, 21) comprises a projectile body (3, 13, 23), a projectile ogive (2, 12, 22), and at least one tracer (5, 15, 25) and/or at least one delay element (6, 16, 26). In order to reduce the velocity and the trajectory, a pressure-generating charge (7, 17, 27), according to the invention, is incorporated in the projectile body (3, 13, 23), which pressure-generating charge is functionally connected to the at least one tracer (5, 5, 25) and/or the at least one delay element (6, 216, 26). After burning of the tracer (5, 15, 25) or the delay charge inside the delay element (6, 16, 26), the initiation of the charge (7, 17, 27) takes place which then acts on the projectile (1, 11, 21) in such a way that after a set flying time (t) is reached, the trajectory of the projectile (1, 11, 21) is influenced.

Abstract

The aim of the invention is to devise a weapon (100) which has a completely modular design. For this purpose, the weapon (100) is subdivided into weapon-specific assemblies which are designed as carrier units of the components and/or of the modular assemblies of the weapon (100). A first assembly can be in the form of a modular weapon housing (3). Said weapon housing (3) consists of a carrier unit into which a breech system of the weapon (100) and its components are installed. Another modular assembly is in the form of a weapon cradle (2). The weapon housing (3) module with the breech system is integrated into said modular assembly. The weapon housing (3) module can be complemented with the barrel module. Another modular assembly, a weapon drive (1), is connected to the weapon cradle (2). The components are mechanically connected to the modular assemblies, and the modular assemblies are mechanically connected to each other, by rails and guides (15.1, 21.1) as well as complementary rails and guides (3.1, 3.2) for the assemblies (3), by ties (31) and holders (33), by pins (33, 34), bolts (31.1, 2.6) and quick release fasteners (22,.2).

Abstract

A drive (10) for a weapon (100) is proposed, comprising a drive cam (1) and a connecting rod unit (2) guided in the drive cam (1), wherein the drive cam (1) comprises the firing cycle of the weapon (10). Apart from a connecting rod (2.1), the connecting rod unit (2) comprises a front pin (2.2) and a rear pin (2.3), a strut pin (2.3). With its front pin (2.2), the connecting rod unit (2) engages in the drive cam (1). The front pin (2.2) is also connected to a crank (3), which is driven by an external drive (4). The strut pin (2.3) is connected to an overall control slider (12) of a breech block (11) of the weapon (10). A connecting rod slider (2.6) of the connecting rod unit (2) has a groove (2.5), in which the strut pin (2.3) is guided, wherein the connecting rod (2.1) is articulated at a pivot point (2.4), which lies behind the strut pin (2.3), and so, when the breech block (11) is at a standstill, the strut pin (2.3) is pivoted in the groove (2.5) in the connecting rod unit (2) and in the overall control slider (12). An emergency stop device (20) is formed by a kinematic mechanism (23), which when a shot is fired makes a pin (21) extend and ensures that the overall control slider (12) is taken along. If, on the other hand, no shot is fired, the pin (21) is not made to extend and the overall control slider (12) is not moved. Parts of the drive (100) may in this case continue to run.

Abstract

The invention relates to an emergency stop device (20) for a weapon (100) with a drive (10) for transporting a breech block (11) of the weapon (10). The emergency stop device (20) is made of at least one kinematik system (23) which comprises at least one guide (23.1), at least one connecting rod (23.2) guided in the guide, and at least one lever (23.3). When a shot is not being fired, the kinematic system (23) is deactivated. When a shot is being fired, the at least one guide (23.1) is moved rearwards, and the at least one connecting rod (23.2) is guided upwards along the guide (23.1) such that the lever (23.3) exerts a lever movement, by means of which the transport of the breech block (11) is made possible. The weapon (100) drive (10) according to the invention has a complete control slide (12) for transporting the breech block (11) of the weapon (100), said complete control slide preferably having a stationary nose (12.1) on the lower face and a movable transverse slide (22). A bolt (21) is laterally embedded in the transverse slide (22), said bolt being integrated below the complete control slide (12) of the drive (10) in a movable manner in the slide. When the bolt (21) is actuated, the breech block (11) can be transported. However, if the bolt (21) remains in its original position, the breech block (11) remains in its front position.
