Abstract

This technology pertains to a receiving device, a receiving method, a program and an information-processing system which are capable of providing an application program that is executed in conjunction with AV content. A trigger extraction unit extracts trigger information that is transmitted along with received AV content, and includes time information for causing a data-broadcasting application to operate at a prescribed time. A TPT analysis unit obtains a command for controlling the operation of the data-broadcasting application, and a TPT associated with the period of validity of the command. A control unit controls the operation of the data-broadcasting application according to the valid command, when the time expressing the progression of the AV content and obtained from the time information included in the extracted trigger information falls within the period of validity of the command, on the basis of the obtained TPT. It is possible to apply this technology to a television receiver for receiving a digital television broadcast signal, for example.

Abstract

An input signal such as a HDTV signal is split into a primary signal, which can be decoded if desired, and an secondary signal, which can remain compressed. The primary signal may be delayed and then both signals are transmitted to a receiver. If no error in the primary signal is detected, the primary signal is used to display data. Otherwise, the secondary signal, which arrives before the primary signal and consequently which is available for substitution, is displayed.

Abstract

The present invention relates generally to methods and apparatus for optical wireless communication, and in particular to wireless optical delivery of a video signal. In one embodiment, a wireless optical video system (100) in which video content (e.g. , DVI or HDMI) is transmitted wirelessly between a digital video source (110) and a display device (150). This wireless optical communication is accomplished using a laser (520), encoded with the digital video data, directed from an optical transmitter (120) to an optical receiver (140). In another embodiment, the data to be communicated includes high- definition video content.

Abstract

A multiplication engine is described in which a decision threshold engine utilizes a Y-adder powers of two shift table to iteratively generate shift-add combinations. The shift-add combinations are output in a sequence with decreasing levels of contribution wherein the accuracy of the associated multiplication increases up to any desired level of accuracy to meet the requirements of the application. The multiplication engine can be used for generating the combinations either statically or dynamically. One embodiment describes a Y-adder hardware slider table engine in which the shift table is implemented with shifters and adders that can be set for active state or pass through state, and selectively summed to generate a product result directly from the table without the need to combine shift and add hardware.

Abstract

A CableCARD device for manipulation of a stream of data has an inband data input for receiving a stream of video data from a host, the stream of video data being encrypted and encoded according to a first coding. A decrypter decrypts the encrypted data. A transcoder transcodes the stream of video data to convert the stream of video data to a second coding, producing a transcoded data stream. An encrypter encrypts the transcoded data stream. An inband data output sends the encrypted transcoded data stream back to the host. This abstract should not be considered limiting, since other embodiments may incorporate more, fewer or different elements that those described in this abstract.

Abstract

A multimedia stream head end includes a legacy conditional access (CA) device (20) that fully encrypts the stream using legacy keys. A copy of the stream is sent to a secondary CA device (24) that encrypts only critical packets in the stream using secondary keys to render a partially encrypted stream. The critical packets in the fully encrypted stream from the legacy CA device (20) are obtained and inserted next to the corresponding critical packets in the partially encrypted stream. Thus, only critical packets are encrypted, with encrypted versions being generated by both the legacy CA (20) and secondary CA (24) without the legacy CA (20) knowing which of the packets that it encrypts are "critical".
