Changes related to the Figurative headings and Vienna classification |
|
Please take note that as of January 1, 2011, the CIPO will stop providing figurative headings for new applications in favor of the exclusive use of the International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks, commonly referred to as the Vienna Classification. http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/cipointernet-internetopic.nsf/eng/wr02438.html#classification Therefore, as of January 1, 2011, in order to perform a thorough design search, a user will have to perform a search based on the Vienna classification. The Onscope online system already permits design searching using Vienna classification and Onscope encourages all of its users to begin familiarizing themselves with the Vienna classification over the months to come. In order to further assist users that may be primarily familiar with the figurative headings, Onscope will be implementing additional online searching tools. Onscope will send out notices to all users as these tools become available. Your OnscopeŽ team. |
